Hearing Aid Prices - Are
we the cheapest in the UK?
The refreshingly honest answer
is probably not! But hang on, we are cheaper (in some
instances 50% cheaper!) than virtually every supplier in the
UK. There are a handful of websites in the UK offering
prices 'slightly' cheaper and we're not too worried about
that. We offer fantastic value for money, the widest choice
available of the very latest technology, and very
importantly we are very choosy about the quality and
reputation of the local independent hearing aid suppliers
who you deal with in the Discount Hearing Aids network.
There have recently been a
couple of websites launched purporting to sell hearing aids
at drastically reduced prices with an online hearing test
and hearing aids being sent through the post! These websites
claim to be the consumer's champion, our advice is to
beware.
Do we have a vested interest
in this view? You must make your own mind up about that, but
here is the view of the RNID (Royal National Institute for
the Deaf) whose motives we feel are beyond reproach; RNID
argues that online hearing tests should only be the first
step and hearing aids should be custom fitted. The RNID's
Policy and Research Director says 'We believe an online
hearing test can only indicate a hearing problem. You need
to tailor each hearing aid to the precise hearing loss.'
The RNID advises people to
seek NHS treatment in the first instance as the waiting
lists are less than they used to be, we couldn't agree more!
If you want something better than the NHS provision then
come to us!
We depend on the feedback you

will and we do stop passing enquiries to any hearing aid
audiologist who does not come up to the high standard of
customer care we feel you deserve.
Our prices do not fluctuate
with the wind, we do not offer gimmics, there is no 'buy one
get one free', we do not try to entice with unfeasibly low
priced hearing aids and then try to persuade you to pay more
once a meeting is organised. We do not have time limited
offers 'for this month only', that crop up every month! The
list goes on, but we just want to provide great pricing, the
widest choice possible and the best aftercare.
If you're still not convinced
we're the organisation to deal with here's a few points to
help you make up your mind;
Natural Listings
- If you are looking at a few websites and general hearing
aid pricing how did you find the websites? Most people find
hearing aid websites via Google or one of the other search
engines. Discount Hearing Aids can only be found in the
natural listings.
Beware of hearing aid
companies who can only be found via 'paid listings'. We
regularly see hearing aid suppliers appearing with a bang
with unfeasibly low pricing and disappearing within a few
months leaving customers high and dry. Natural listings can
only be achieved with time and patience, if you have found a
website via paid listings and can't find them elsewhere,
it's likely that the website has not had a web prescence for
long. If their prices are very low coupled with the fact
that 'paid listing' advertising is very expensive,
there's a good chance they won't be around for the duration.
We see this pattern happening too regularly, buyer
beware....
Professional Image
- If a website looks cheap and tacky and/or the information
is lacking or out of date you could draw the conclusion that
attention to detail is not important to that company, what
does that say for the hope of good future customer care?
Hearing Aid Prices
- If a website does not list hearing aid prices, or is very
selective about the prices it quotes on a very small sample
of 'budget' hearing aids, what's to hide?
